  • Projects Under Review
    • Utthan - Gujarat - request to support a multiple AID chapter and multi-sector (strengthen women's rights, democratic participation, income generation) project.
      proposed budget approx $20,000/annum (request from AID Atlanta $5000)
    • AID Gurgaon - Disha school project - request to support the operating expenses for a school set up by AID Gurgaon that benefits children of migrant labourers. Proposed budget over $1500/annum.

      • Peter Bakos Saathishipan - Peter Bakos is working in Tamil Nadu and Orissa. with a focus on eco-friendly construction and craft making. Main project is Ecoschool - which produces environmentally friendly equipment and teaching materials for schools in Tamil Nadu using recycled inputs. [ more
      • Goat Rearing project  - in West Bengal, NGO needed  to support an ongoing malaria control program. also villagers in area (mostly tribal groups) have few sources of income. Thus they are going to start a goat farm to support both. The villagers will be trained in goat rearing, given goats and can then earn their own income. proceeds from the farm will also be used to support the malaria program.

      • Sangtin Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan (SKMS) - in Uttar Pradesh. While there are various components to this project, AID Atlanta is supporting their chikan (embroidery) enterprise. The project includes training for members and helping in the setting up of their own shop to sell products directly to customers. The main aim is to improve the income earned by members.

      • Short shelter home project - Rajasthan - project is to support the setting up of a shelter for women who have suffered from domestic violence. The shelter will provide support, health and other services. These activities are already ongoing and this project aims to increase the scale and effectiveness of the shelter.Total from AID Atlanta - approx $5000 (in two payments) - approved Feb 2009.
    • Completed projects
      • Unnayan - Based in Orissa this NGO focuses on skills development in tribal villages. AID Atlanta supported (via $4000 over two payments) the construction of a  facility that offers training in sustainable agriculture/livestock training for farmers, promoting tribal art, craft and culture, and also a night school. Local governments have since asked Unnayan to replicate the construction and use of similar facilities elsewhere.
      • Disabled persons development through group formation "Disabled persons development through group formation" was proposed by an NGO called Relief Organization for Handicapped, Hindupur, Andhra Pradesh. more]
      • RTRC Rural Technical Resource center in Kuthampakkam TN. AID Atlanta has funded $3500 for building the RTRC [more]
      • SRUSTI:Economic empowerment of the community through sustainable forest development is the goal of the project.[more]

        AID Atlanta has approved and funded $2500 for the initial phase of the project which includes construction Water Harvesting Structure (WHS) and preparation and planting of seedlings before the arrival of monsoon. The WHS is to be completed before the first week of June.

        AID Atlanta has supported the vellore hills regreening project by funding $4368 for the first year. Funded $2500 for the second year
      • Hundred Block Plan(HBP) This project is AID wide one that selects hundred blocks in Tamilnadu, Maharastra and Bihar and making them model blocks by helping them with improving health,creating and maintaining credit cooperatives and supporting women.[more]
        Atlanta is supporting Parngipettai and Bhuvanagiri blocks in Kadalur district Tamil nadu. It has funded $2200.
      • Bhasha Tribal Academy, Gujarat A national level Tribal Academy for initiating formal education in the area of conservation of Tribal imagination. The academy will research and document linguistic, literary and artistic heritage of tribal communities in India. .[more]
      • Eurekha Model School - The school aims at using innovative teaching techniques to make education fun for children in poorer sections of the society where drop-out rates are high.[more]
      • Vidnyanvahini helps rural children learn science through experiments,through a mobile science lab (MSL) which visits rural schools throughout the year. [ more]
      • Baran drought relief: The baran district in rajasthan is facing its third consecutive drought this year. [ more]
