AID is dedicated to participating in equitable and just social, economic and environmental development in India. Started with the dream of students in the US in 1991, it has grown from the dream of a few to the vision of many – students and professionals alike. The AID family has 42 chapters in the US, a chapter each in UK, Australia and Germany, 7 chapters in India and over 500 active volunteers. We always welcome new volunteers!

How we operate
AID is non-hierarchical and inherently democratic. Our volunteers …
  • Review proposals received from NGOs and clarify questions raised. Visit the project and organization during review.
  • Evaluate organizations and projects based on strengths, weaknesses and fit with AID philosophy.
  • Maintain contact with NGO after approval to monitor and learn from project, generate new ideas.
All AID projects are funded solely through contributions made to AID. However, AID volunteers do not consider themselves merely as part of a funding agency, but as partners in effecting change.

You can help!
  • Attend the community service hour held at Georgia Tech Student Center on a bi-weekly basis
  • Support AID fund-raising events. Buy AID T-shirts, Greeting cards, Calendars.
  • Identify possible developmental activities in your home town and notify AID in the form of a project proposal.
